Role: R&D Development Engineer

My client are a medical device company based in Cork, a forefront company in their field. They are based in Cork City and have over 450 professionals here. They've been in Ireland over 25 years and their products touch the lives of more than 260 million patients yearly.
You will be required to plan, coordinates, develops and implements intraocular lens Optic mold tooling for new product technology, ensuring that all optical testing meets specifications.
Optic Mold Tooling Development and interaction with other departments participating or impacted by technology innovation projects.
- Calculating optical system and molded wafer targets using data analysis and optics software.
- Work closely with Tooling Development area, Molding Engineers, Technicians, Pilot Line Supervisor and Manufacturing to utilise resources and equipment.
- Use Zemax software to analyse lens data.
Use Solidworks/Pro E/Creo software to build IOL optic mold tooling assemblies.
Responsible for analysing optical system data to develop product specification targets for production use.
Take ownership of optic mold tooling and communicate progress effectively to all stakeholders.
Work closely with R&D colleagues globally on optical system process development and design improvements .
Honours Degree in a Technical discipline, mechanical or optical or Phd in a Technical discipline, mechanical or optical.
3-5 years experience in a technical role within an optical / medical environment
